Fota Wildlife Park
Fota Wildlife:
On the 7th of March, early in the morning a group of transition years travelled to Fota Wildlife Resort in Cork for a tour of the park.
Firstly after arriving we were divided into two groups, we were then taken into the class rooms to play games and learn about the different animals.
Next we were taken outside on the tour of the park, first place we were taken to were the kitchens where we seen how food was prepared for the resident animals, I was surprised to learn about the strict diets each of the animals had.
We then moved on to visiting the animals, we saw the giraffes, ostriches, wallabies, cheetahs, flamingos, kangaroos, gibbons and monkeys.
After that we had lunch.
After lunch we went to see the penguins, afterwards onto the tropical house where we saw snakes, fish and jellyfish.
Afterwards we went on to see the tigers, lions and rhinos. Our final animal to see was the meerkat which were extremely inquisitive and friendly.
Our tour ended back in the classroom with a talk on native Irish species like the badger, stoat, fox and the otter.
They had stuffed examples of the animals which many people actually found frightening.
Reflection:
Overall I really enjoyed the day at Fota Wildlife Park, I learned lots and got to see lots of wild animals I had never seen before. I also really like the way the animals were walking freely around the park.
I would recommend for anyone to take a trip to Fota Wildlife Park.
